“LIVES DEPEND ON EXPANDING THE COURT. IT'S TIME WE START ACTING LIKE IT"

SAN FRANCISCO, CA (May 2, 2022) — ​In response to the leaked draft opinion by the Supreme Court’s right-wing majority that would overturn Roe v. Wade and make abortion inaccessible for millions of Americans, Take Back the Court Action Fund released the following statement on behalf of its executive director Sarah Lipton-Lubet:

“Not only does the Supreme Court’s conservative majority appear poised to gut Roe v. Wade and cut off millions of people’s access to abortion care — it seems eager to do so as cruelly and vindictively as possible. This draft opinion makes crystal clear that the only way to protect our rights is to expand the Court.

“It is time for every member of Congress who cares about abortion rights to enshrine the right to abortion into law and protect it by passing the Judiciary Act. The clock is running out — lives depend on this, and it's time we start acting like it."
