SENATE CONFIRMS KETANJI BROWN JACKSON IN HISTORIC VOTE

SAN FRANCISCO, CA (April 7, 2022) — The Senate voted today to confirm Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court. Take Back the Court Executive Director Sarah Lipton-Lubet praised the historic confirmation:

“With the Senate voting to confirm Ketanji Brown Jackson as our country’s next Supreme Court justice, making her the first Black woman and first former public defender to sit on the highest Court in the land, today is a day to celebrate. There is no doubt that Justice Jackson will be a brilliant addition to the bench, bringing her immense talent, breadth of experience, and invaluable perspective to the critical decisions on the Court’s horizon. The stakes for our rights and our democracy have never been higher, and we need her wisdom and her voice on the judiciary now more than ever. We desperately need a Supreme Court that actually reflects the country it is supposed to serve, rather than just a rich and powerful few. Justice Jackson’s confirmation is an historic, long-overdue step in that direction and an inspiration to keep moving forward.”
