TAKE BACK THE COURT STATEMENT ON JUDGE CANNON SPECIAL MASTER ORDER

SAN FRANCISCO, CA (September 15, 2022) — Take Back the Court released this statement in response to tonight's news that Trump-appointed Judge Aileen Cannon denied the Department of Justice's motion for a partial stay regarding documents seized at Mar-a-Lago:

"Anyone who is (pretending to be) confused about why Trump-packed courts are losing legitimacy need look no further," said Take Back the Court Executive Director Sarah Lipton-Lubet. "Judge Cannon’s willfully partisan behavior is emblematic of what we are seeing from right-wing judicial extremists at every level, including the Supreme Court. Structural reform is the only way to restore legitimacy and save our democracy.”
