NEW REPORT FROM TAKE BACK THE COURT AND SUNRISE MOVEMENT SHOWS STAKES IN WEST VIRGINIA V. EPA
SAN FRANCISCO, CA (February 23, 2022) — Next Monday, the Supreme Court will hear arguments in West Virginia v. EPA, a case that threatens to undo decades of environmental progress and thwart future efforts to address climate change. Taking this case is another signal that the 6-3 Court is hand-picking cases that present the best opportunities to advance its right-wing agenda.
Ahead of these arguments, Take Back the Court partnered with Sunrise Movement on a new report breaking down how we got to this point and the stakes in the case.
“The current Court was molded by and exists to serve a very specific segment of Republican elites, coal companies, and high polluting industries,” the report states. “Expanding and rebalancing the Court is the only way to ensure that the illegitimate Republican supermajority on the Supreme Court does not succeed in reversing a half-century of progress.”
