ALITO UNETHICALLY DEFENDS HIS ETHICS

SAN FRANCISCO, CA (July 28, 2023) — Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito once again took to the pages of the Wall Street Journal opinion section to speak out against reports of his conflicts of interest and ethics violations. The lead author of the piece, who interviewed Alito for upwards of two hours, is an attorney with a case before the Court next term. In response, Take Back the Court Action Fund released the following statement on behalf of its president, Sarah Lipton-Lubet:

“Sam Alito says that Congress isn’t allowed to regulate the Supreme Court. In fact it can, and it must — Alito need not look further than the U.S. Constitution for proof. Since Alito has so much to say about ethics, perhaps he should say it directly to the Senate Judiciary Committee in live testimony instead of calling in favors from Wall Street Journal contributors who also just happen to be arguing cases before the Supreme Court.”
