JUSTICE ALITO VIOLATED NEW COURT ETHICS RULES ALMOST IMMEDIATELY

SAN FRANCISCO, CA (May 31, 2023) — New reporting today in Slate reveals that just over a month after Chief Justice Roberts sent the Senate Judiciary Committee a new Supreme Court ethics doctrine signed by all nine justices, Justice Alito already failed to abide by one of its disclosure rules. The “Statement on Ethics Principles and Practices” came after several bombshell stories exposed details around Justice Thomas’ ethically dubious relationship with right-wing benefactor Harlan Crow.

In response to the news, Take Back the Court Action Fund released the following statement on behalf of its president, Sarah Lipton-Lubet:

“From big, obvious corruption like the Thomas-Crow scandal to casual rejection of ethics rules like this, the right-wing justices continue to demonstrate that they don’t believe any rules apply to them. They’re basically daring Congress to step up and do its job. Our elected leaders should accept the dare.”
