SUPREME COURT AN ACCOMPLICE IN TRUMP'S ASSAULT ON DEMOCRACY

SAN FRANCISCO, CA (March 4, 2024) – Less than a week ago the Supreme Court helped Donald Trump delay his criminal prosecution for his attempts to overturn the 2020 election. Today, the Supreme Court gave Trump an exemption from the 14th Amendment’s prohibition on insurrectionists holding high office. Take Back the Court Action Fund released the following statement on behalf of its president, Sarah Lipton-Lubet, in response to the news:

“With three members of the Supreme Court appointed by Trump and a fourth married to a participant in his efforts to overturn the election, it’s no surprise the court is an accomplice in Trump’s assault on the rule of law and democracy itself. And it’s clear that in order to restore democracy and the rule of law, we must reform the Supreme Court.”
