TAKE BACK THE COURT: NOW IS THE TIME TO SAFEGUARD DEMOCRACY BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE

“Today, as Democrats appear to have won crucial and historic victories in Georgia’s two Senate races, Republicans will mount one of their most brazen assaults on American democracy yet, attempting to overturn the results of a free and fair presidential election. The lesson is as stark as the contrast: President-elect Biden and Congressional Democrats will have a brief window to restore and safeguard American democracy before it is too late. We urgently need to expand and protect voting rights, end gerrymandering, stem the flood of dark money in politics, ensure representation for hundreds of thousands of DC residents, and more. But none of that will be possible if an illegitimate, partisan Supreme Court majority retains veto power. Congress must immediately pass legislation to add seats to the Court, and President-elect Biden must fill those seats with jurists who will restore, respect, and defend democracy.”

Take Back the Court raises awareness about the urgent need to expand the number of seats on the Supreme Court to address the theft of the court by Senator Mitch McConnell. Without adding seats, Congress will not be able to restore the right to vote, ensure reproductive freedom, protect workers, halt our climate emergency, or pass new legislation.
