WILL REPUBLICANS REMAIN COMPLICIT IN COVERING UP FOR CLARENCE THOMAS?

SAN FRANCISCO, CA (April 18, 2023) — Today, NBC News reported that without replacing Senator Diane Feinstein (D-CA) on the Senate Judiciary Committee, Senate Democrats do not have the majority they need to subpoena Justice Clarence Thomas as part of an investigation into his corrupt relationship with right-wing billionaire Harlan Crow. Republicans have made clear they intend to block any replacement for Feinstein. In response, Take Back the Court Action Fund released the following statement on behalf of its president, Sarah Lipton-Lubet:

“It couldn’t be more obvious that Congress needs to conduct a real investigation into Thomas’ corruption that includes his direct testimony. Unfortunately, Republicans have chosen to block the replacement of an ailing Senator on the Judiciary Committee — and in doing so, to block a subpoena for Clarence Thomas. They must be absolutely terrified of what such an investigation would reveal.”
